Santorum claims his victory, which won’t make the Republican establishment to happy, but the party elites already tried to steal the win from the senator by calling it a “virtual tie.”
Romney joined the elites in this “spoiling for a tie.” If Santorum keeps, doggedly stating his victory, it only makes Romney and the Republican establishment look, well, cheap.
The fight for South Carolina goes on. Newt just may clinch it as he has a post-debate surge. “The latest telephone survey of likely GOP primary voters in the state finds Gingrich with 33 percent support to Romney’s 31 percent.” Santorum may move up in the polls now that he has a legitimate win under his belt. In an election year everything matters, and those that say Iowa doesn’t are just hiding from reality.
